For those of you who know me, I am a big Renaissance Faire fan. Since this weekend is the closing of the Maryland fair for the season I thought I would bid it a fond farewell by having a faire themed Thursday.

Since searching out unique items is one of my favorite internet past times I thought I would kill two birds with one stone and incorporate some of these searches into my blog. So I have decided that Thursdays would now be Themed Thursdays. Pretty simple idea, I pick a theme and do a search on Esty and see what I come up with and share some of them with my few but loyal blog readers. So here it goes, my first theme:

Often when I visit craft stores they have bins and bins of inexpensive spools of thin satin ribbon. Between the rainbow of colors and the bargain pricing, I can not resist adding a spool or two to my cart. So after years of craft store shopping, I have boxes of dainty colorful ribbon and no clue what to use it for, until now.


What you will need:
1.75 yards of 1/8th inch wide satin ribbon in two colors
1-felt sheet
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Large button at least 1” in diameter
Headband


Cut 14 pieces of each color ribbon into 4.5” strips.Tie a knot in each piece of ribbon, directly in the center of the ribbon, fig 2.


Cut two pieces of felt in a circle with a 1.5” diameter, fig 3.



Using one of the felt circles as a backing, take the ribbon and fold it in half gluing the cut edges to the base felt as seen in fig. 4.



Keep gluing all the ribbon petals around the edge of the circular base. Try placing the ribbon so you do not see the felt backing, fig. 5. (Note: I layered my color ribbon by placing all…

Tired of shopping at the same (and only) fabric store in the area, I have been playing around with reusing thrift store or hand me down clothing. This past week I made a headband out of a slightly used camisole and thought I would share the before and after.

Recently, I have been playing around with using recycled materials to make flowers for my hair accessories. Usually, the recylcled materials are old clothing or fabric but while brewing up some coffee I percolated an idea.

I noticed how the filters were a bit gauzy and more durable than normal paper. So I saved some of the used coffee filters. After some time spent folding, tearing, cutting and sewing I came up with a way to make a coffee filter flower. When I hammer out the details I will share the instructions but in the meantime I thought I would share my java inspired creation.


Furthermore, I need some ideas on what you would do with a coffee filter flower. I made this one into a pin but I'm sure there are better ideas out there, unfortunately my idea cup runneth empty on ideas.
