Instead of buying this expensive headband, save yourself some money and make one for less than $5. For the full tutorial for the headband below, click here.

Painted Saddle Shoes

Want a cheap way to have some cute summer shoes? Turn a cheap pair of  white canvas tennis shoes (I got mine for less than $6) into cute saddle shoes! Usually saddle shoes are black and white, however since you are creating them you can paint them in any color you want. I picked a tiffany blue.

Supplies
Canvas tennis shoesTulip soft Matte PaintPaint brushes (I used two, one was a quarter inch flat brush and one was a round finer point brush)PencilPaper towelScissors
Download and print this template for the front of the shoes. Since shoes are 3-dimensional I cut my template out of a paper towel. This will allow you to mold it to the shoe.
Remove the shoe laces. After you have cut the template out of a paper towel, place it on the shoe. The point should point to the center on the shoe's laces. Trace the outline using a pencil on the shoe. Note: Since your shoe might be larger or smaller depending on the size you might need to tweak the template a bit.

Using the smaller round brush sta…

Teacher Appreciation Flower Brooch Tutorial

Every time I go down the ribbon aisle at the local craft store I am amazed at the variety of cute ribbons they have. Well when I saw this measuring tape ribbon I knew I had to get it and make a flower. This flower pin would be a really cute gift for teacher appreciation day. It is easy to make because it doesn't require and sewing and the ribbon it pretty inexpensive.

Supplies
Approx 9 ft. of Measuring Tape Ribbon*
Scissors
Glue Gun
Felt 2-small pieces in two different colors
Pinking Shears (optional)
1" pin
Button for the center

*I used a spool of Offray 5/8" ribbon that I purchased at AC Moore. I did a search on the web and there seem to be a lot of ribbon options. I would suggest that you don't use anything wider than .75".
Cut a 1.5" circle out of the felt using the pinking shears. If you don't have pinking shears normal scissors work just fine.

Using the ribbon, cut twenty to twenty-four 3" strips and five to six 2" strips. Note: this can…

No Sew Zipper Flower

This zipper flower is easy and quick to make and best yet...no sewing! It would make a great hair accessory, brooch or maybe an adornment to a purse or bag. I will leave the final project decision up to you. But if you do make any of these I would love for you to contact me and send your pictures of what you made the flower into!
Plus, if you want to make this with your child but don't want to use hot glue you could totally use fabric glue. It would just take a little longer because you would have to hold the petals until the glue dries.

Supplies:

12" of zipper in two colors (24" all together)ScissorsGlue GunFeltHeadband
Separate the zipper, pulling apart the teeth to make two pieces, you should have four 12" strips of zipper pieces now.  If you bought a packaged zipper, you will have to cut bottom end off of the zipper and remove the sliding “zipper” piece.

Out of the felt cut one 1.5" circle. Out of each color cut ONE SET of the following:
• Three 4" piece…

Doing Valentine's Doggie Style

It wouldn't be Valentine's Day for me if I didn't come up with a anti-lovey dovey card. My husband and I aren't the teddy bear romantic Halmark card type of couple so I have to think up of a card that is "us". This year I came up with my doggie style card...it's a little romantic if you are a dog person.

Click here to download a pdf of this card.

The card should be printed at 100% on letter sized (8.5 x 11) paper. Trim the card using the crop marks and fold in half. The final size is 4.25" x 5.5". I printed my sample on red card stock to give it a little more XOXO. The cards will fit in a standard A2 (4-3/8" x 5-3/4"), however if you do not have an envelope handy you can refer to my Recycled Paper Envelope to create one.
