While doing a little online window shopping (because I can't afford Anthropology) I noticed they had this headband for $38: Anthropologies $38 headband So of course the bells and whistles in my head were binging away because this headband has a very strong resemblance to a tutorial that I posted in August 9, 2009! Instead of buying this expensive headband, save yourself some money and make one for less than $5. For the full tutorial for the headband below, click here . Supplies Scissors Needle & Thread (coordinate with fabric) 3 - Cover Button Size 36 (7/8 inch) wire back Wide Headband 18" x 24" piece of fabric Glue Gun Note: I used different patterns for each flower and mixed things up so if you want to do this here is the fabric breakdown: Each button: 2" x 2" Larger flower: 3" x 18" Smaller flower: 2" x 18" Heaband: depends on size or your headband but you will need about 4" x 18" piece of fabric Cut two strips of 2" x 18" fabric for the smaller flowers. Cut one 3" x 18" strip for the larger flower. Take one of the strips and fold the fabric in half width wise and sew a gathering stitch along the unfinished bottom of the strip. Gather the strip of fabric and tie the end but do not cut the thread. Form a circle with material and stay stitch it in place. Repeat steps 2 & 3 with the remaining strips of fabric. Sorry I haven't done a tutorial for awhile. Things have been a bit busy this summer between my day job all a bunch of opportunities to do outdoor craft shows. But I am back! So in true fashion for this blog I have come up with a folded fabric flower tutorial--big shocker huh? Unlike my other tutorials I have made this one into a downloadable pdf . These cute zipper flowers can me made into a number of accessories by adding different backers such as a pin. I made them into two hair accessories (go figure). So get some supplies and start crafting…you will have your own in a zip! Supplies: 22” zipper Scissors Glue Gun Felt Needle Thread Headband or gator clip Cut bottom end off of the zipper and remove the sliding “zipper” piece. You will have 2 zipper ribbons, both are used to make the flower. Using the felt, cut out one 1” round piece and one 1.25” round piece. Take the 1” round piece of felt and sew the end to the center of the circle. Take the zipper ribbon and loop it up and around so it looks like fig. 4. The loop should be approximately 2” from end to end. Stitch the loop in place through the center. Loop the zipper ribbon a second time making a “figure 8” and stitch in place. What you will need: Hot Glue Gun Scissors Sheet of black felt (cheap stiff kind) 2” Black Pom Pom 2-Googlie eyes Headband 4-black pipe cleaners 1. Cut out a 1.5” circle out of the felt. 2. Glue the circle to the underside of the headband placed somewhere along the top. It doesn’t have to be centered. 3. Take a pipe cleaner and glue the center of the pipe cleaner on top of the felt circle running horizontally with the headband. Two pipe cleaners will go on each side of the headband. Refer to fig. 3 for placement. 4. Hot glue the googlie eyes onto the pom pom. 5. Glue the pom pom to the top of the felt, sandwiching the headband and pipe cleaners between the two. 6. Bend each pipe cleaner leg roughly in half facing down. Then take a small tip on the end of each pipe cleaner leg and bend it up, see fig. 6.

If you pick up any fashion magazine or browse the racks of you favorite store, you will notice that ruffles are really “in” right now. But if you are like me and like the look but are low on funds I have a low budget solution…a ruffled headband. To make this headband you can use any lightweight material. I used an old chiffon skirt. Tools & Materials • Approximately a quarter yard of lightweight material (chiffon, organza, cotton, etc.) • Scissors • Sewing needle and thread in appropriate color • Wide headband (needs to be wide enough to glue ruffle to the headband, about 1/2" at least) • Hot glue gun • Straight pins • Ruler • Piece of paper • Pencil/pen • Buttons (optional) Instructions 1. Take paper and make a circle with a 2.5” diameter, cut out this circle to use as a pattern. 2. Cut out 30 circles using the fabric of your choice (fig. A). 3.
